“The Scarlet Cosmos”

Check out this cocktail inspired by Clive Barker's The Scarlet Gospels, and then make sure you're signed in and comment at the bottom for a chance to win a copy of the conclusion to the Hellraiser series!

We all love a good horror story—but I prefer to drown my demons rather than try to exorcise them.

So, let's keep the drinks flowing with this week's Pick Your Poison—where we create a cocktail inspired by a recently published mystery, thriller, or crime novel!

I present to you, “The Scarlet Cosmos”—inspired by the legendary Clive Barker's newest novel, The Scarlet Gospels (now available in paperback!)

The Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker concludes the Hellraiser horror series in the collision of paranormal detective Harry D'Amour with the Pinhead, the priest of hell (Available in paperback on May 17, 2016).

The Scarlet Gospelstakes readers back many years to the early days of two of Barker's most iconic characters in a battle of good and evil as old as time: The long-beleaguered detective Harry D'Amour, investigator of all supernatural, magical, and malevolent crimes faces off against his formidable, and intensely evil rival, Pinhead, the priest of hell. Barker devotees have been waiting for The Scarlet Gospels with bated breath for years, and it's everything they've begged for and more. Bloody, terrifying, and brilliantly complex, fans and newcomers alike will not be disappointed by the epic, visionary tale that is The Scarlet Gospels. Barker's horror will make your worst nightmares seem like bedtime stories. The Gospels are coming. Are you ready?

PICK YOUR POISON

“The Scarlet Cosmos”

– 2 oz. Vodka (I prefer Titos, but any vodka will do)

– 1/2 oz. Cointreau (or triple sec)

– splash of orange juice

How to make the cocktail:

  1. Pour ingredients (except for zest for garnish) into a mixing tin.
  2. Add ice and shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
  4. Cut two thin strips of orange zest and spritz the oils over the drink.
  5. Arrange zest strips in the shape of a cross on top of the drink.
