No BBC Sherlock until 2012- ARRRGh!

Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson in BBC’s Sherlock series
BBC Sherlock: This Holmesian glower and tiny Watson will have to last us for a WHILE.
Sherlock’s gray peepers will have to be mighty farsighted to catch a glimpse of the next episode, as the new series is premiering so far in the future that it’s even beyond our futile hopes for a Christmas pony! Via Den of Geek

We’d already understood that it was highly unlikely we’d see Sherlock fit into BBC One’s schedules this side of the new year, but the continuity announcement confirmed that the show wouldn’t be back until 2012 (to reiterate, though, it was never officially announced it’d be on our screens in 2011. That was speculation on many peoples’ part, including our own).

We’ll get some Irene Adler in the next epsodes, if they ever happen, that is! *eye roll of doubt with huff of as-if* Haven’t the BBC’s wigs heard that there could be a meteor strike, an alien EMP attack, zombie plagues. . .?  Wouldn’t it be better to be safe rather than sorry, and tuck a teeny few insurance episodes of Sherlock into the schedule well before the Mayan calendar’s long count ends?

(We hate threatening the BBC with apocalyptic doom- makes us sound like the rest of their “licence holders.”)

*commencing more ARRGGGHs and sighs
