In a future not so far away, a “non-threatening, huggable” robot is sent to take care of a teenage boy and his family. Soon, he's one of the few things standing in the way of the world and total destruction from a kabuki-wearing villain. In the latest movie from the masterminds behind Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, and Frozen comes Big Hero 6.
Here's the official description:
With all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery.
While the movie may harken back to the Marvel Comic Book series of the same name (which it is inspired by), the soft shell of Baymax's body is actually inspired by real-life robotics work being done at Carnegie Mellon University. So, with science, comics, adventure, and animation, does this movie make it to your list for this weekend?
