Are you a history buff? A gangster aficionado? Both? Well, we’ve got the house for you! This week, Kate “Ma” Barker’s house went on the market. The house in question, located 62 miles from Orlando in Ocklawaha, Florida, has been restored to its former glory with one tiny exception—the bullet holes from a shootout with the FBI in 1935 are still in the walls and the original furniture.
Legend says Ma Barker and her son Fred were hiding out in the Florida home when the FBI surrounded the house. Fred opened fire and a shootout began, ending in the deaths of both Ma and Fred. While this history has been verified (and the bullet holes in the bungalow are pretty good support) it has always been a point of contention whether Ma Barker was the criminal mastermind behind her sons’ crimes or just tacitly aware of them.
That particular mystery is likely never to be solved, but for the price of just $1 million you can pretend to be Ma Barker. Hopefully with a happier ending . . .
