Book Review: Inside Threat by Matthew Quirk

From the author of The Night Agent now on Netflix, Matthew Quirk's Inside Threat is an electrifying thriller about an attack on the White House that sends the President and his top aides to take shelter in a top secret government facility buried deep underground—but they soon discover the threat is locked inside with them.

Quirk’s latest look inside the world of the Secret Service and how they operate in the White House throws the President into a well-plotted attempt to remove him from office.

One Secret Service agent, Erik Hill, took a bullet during a previous administration and is now considered past his prime. He is outside the loop when it comes to the top brass in the organization. An attack inside the residence forces the President to move to an offsite location, Raven Rock. Hill is reluctantly brought into the small group of agents responsible for keeping the President alive. The site is secure, and there is no way anyone can infiltrate the bunker from the outside. But the Threat is internal, and the enemy knew they would move to Raven Rock. Hill has to figure out whom he can trust among the people he has worked with for years and keep the President alive.

The surprises are nonstop, and the pacing is tight. Inside Threat is one of Quirk’s best novels. Fans of The Night Agent, the Netflix series based on an earlier Quirk novel, will love this and any readers who enjoy thrillers with a haunted house/claustrophobic edge.
