You know those couple of times where your map/directions have taken you through a less than savory neighborhood? When you just happen across some poorly-lit warehouse district somewhere in downtown on your way to a friend’s house for a party? Well it looks like Microsoft has our backs.
The company recently patented a technology providing maps customized to users’ liking, which includes a feature that would route a person around neighborhoods with high violent crime statistics. It also takes into account particular individual’s personal history. So if you happen to be 6’4 and 300 pounds and prefer a bare-knuckle boxing match or two, well, you have no need to fear being led into the pre-school district while using the app.
