Job Description:
This is a full-time freelance (hourly rate) position assisting the team working on the HeroesandHeartbreakers.com and CriminalElement.com websites.
The freelancer will be responsible for a mix of production, accounting, and content-creation tasks. These tasks will ensure that all site business is handled in a timely and appropriate manner. In partnership with the crime and romance production associates, this candidate will be responsible for invoicing, story and excerpt production work, sweepstakes production and fulfillment, and other administrative tasks.
Major Responsibilities:
Converting short stories and book excerpts into blog-ready content and ensuring the material is published on schedule.
Acting as a production liaison for art assets/manuscript acquisition from internal and external content providers.
Setting up blog sweepstakes/giveaways, acting as a liaison for ordering prizes and handling fulfillment of prizes.
Invoicing and managing AP/HR paperwork for all content providers.
Supporting social media outreach and freelancer coordination efforts and providing other administrative duties as needed.
Experience Needed:
Understanding of the blogging production process, from initial receipt to upload and display of content
Experience creating blog posts and uploading them to a blog, ideally using a content management solution (CMS) such as Joomla.
Ability to organize administrative procedures and fulfill administrative functions such as invoicing in a timely manner
Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, from start to finish, with multiple stakeholders
Ability to learn quickly and thrive under tight deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required, both written and verbal
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Understanding of either the mystery/crime novel genres and/or the romance novel genres preferred
Experience working with project management tools preferred
Familiarity/previous experience with professional invoicing procedures and workflow preferred
Experience in or interest in the book publishing business a plus
Ability to size art and perform small Photoshop functions a plus
