Star Wars: Underworld: Star Wars Goes Noir

The path of the righteous Jedi...
The path of the righteous Jedi…
Growing up you could say that I was a bit of a super-fan when it came to Star Wars. Anything and everything that had that ever-recognizable type face was bought and consumed, be it toy, book, or movie. So when I read that there was a Star Wars tv series in the works, my inner child did a little jig.

The show has a working title of Star Wars: Underworld  and is set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back  and Return of the Jedi. The show’s creators say they want to focus on seedier elements of the lore, such as how the Empire consolidated power and the mob bosses (like Jabba the Hut), criminals, and drug pushers thrived throughout the Empire at the time.

When you combine that with all the awesome noir TV out there at the moment, it’s hard not to have my 10 year-old self and my adult self do that jig together. But we will have to wait and see. What do you think, can they pull off a dark Star Wars? Even without Han Solo, P.I.?

To tide us over till the show gets out of the teaser stage, please allow this video to set the very serious and business-like mood for Friday.

This sounds like a great show. No one does seedy underworld like a star trooper. I’m dancing that jig with you, right along with Darth Vader here at Walt Disney World:

He’s actually a pretty good dancer.

Star Wars is going to the dogs! (Someone had to say it.)

I know right? Those fans are pratically howling with excitment. You’d think that they have some kind of bone to pick.
