Snake Pliskin in Space: Guy Pearce in Lockout

Guy Pearce
Guy Pearce and a big gun.
The trailer world is all Guy Pearce all the time right now. Yesterday, we had Seeking Justice, where Pearce is on the street doing his vigilante thing, and today we find him flying off to space in Lockout. If you’re my age, the plot will sound a bit like a fancy, updated version of Escape from New York.

Guy Pearce plays a government agent (with all kinds of skills, sort of like Bourne) convicted of a crime he did not commit. He’s offered his freedom, an expungement of his record, as long as he enters a maximum-security prison to rescue the daughter of the President, who’s somehow gotten trapped there.

Only the prisoners aren’t incarcerated on the island of Manhattan, they’re in an orbiting prison that they’ve overrun.

I have to admit, I find the trailer amusing, but then I have a juvenile sense of humor. What say you, fans?
