Sometimes people are just assholes. Here was this incredible rock formation, formed over the course of hundreds of years of erosion, minding its own business—when a group of people decided to take revenge on a blameless artifact of nature by destroying it. It seems a friend of the “duckbill” assassins had broken his leg climbing on the rock, prompting an eye-for-an-eye response, as the group avenged the fallen comrade by essentially breaking the leg of the formation, destroying it forever. 

Thankfully, passerby David Kalas captured the vandalism on camera:

While the Oregon State Police are investigating, the maximum fine for vandalizing a state park is a measly $435. Here’s hoping Mother Nature is into karma.
