G, 2nd Virgina infantry found this child’s portrait on the battlefield of Port Republic, Virginia between the bodies of a Confederate soldier and a Federal Soldier.Love solving a good mystery? The Photographic Services Department of the Museum of the Confederacy sure hopes so. The museum has eight photographs in its collection with unidentified subjects and the staff is hoping an enterprising family genealogist might make a connection between the battle sites where the pictures were found and similar family features. Does the little girl in the photo above have your Aunt Harriet’s nose, or maybe your grandfather’s eyes?
