Ever been tempted by items belonging to the guy who’s stuck in the security line behind you, being sent back through the metal detector a half-dozen times as various things set it off? You know how it is: you’re putting your shoes back on and his laptop is just sitting there in the tub, waiting for him to collect it.
Igor Ramos was tempted, and he succumbed to the lure of a $6500 Rolex. (The question of whether a $6500 watch is in and of itself criminal is one we leave to you.) Apparently, Ramos didn’t consider the fact that airports are the most heavily monitored places on the planet just at the moment, so before long the police showed up at his door.
According to the good folks at The Smoking Gun (where you will find the video that sealed Ramos’s fate),
A sheriff’s spokesperson reported that when a deputy questioned him about the Rolex, Ramos replied, “It was a gift from God.”
Er…that wasn’t God, Mr. Ramos.
