Alarm Clock Bomb Scare

A Virginia woman created a cause for alarm in a Whole Foods parking lot the other day.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Daphne Page purchased an alarm clock resembling a stick of dynamite from a garage sale for her daughter's birthday. After stopping at a local Whole Foods, another shopper noticed the alarm clock in the backseat of her car and quickly called the police.

Henrico Police Lieutenant B.T. Wilson said,  “We got there. We found the device, and it appeared to be real, which resulted in a decision to set up a perimeter.” After a 5-hour ordeal, the bomb squad used a robot to remove the alarm clock from the vehicle.

Unfortunately for Page, Virgina law clearly states:

Any person who constructs, uses, places, sends, or causes to be sent any hoax explosive device so as to intentionally cause another person to believe that such device is a bomb or explosive shall be guilty of a Class 6 felony.

Page faces up to 5 years in prison for her gag gift gone wrong. Talk about a wake-up call!
