Introducing Peter James TV!

I’m extremely excited to have launched my own YouTube channel, Peter James TV, in which I’m going to be sharing with you many aspects of my life as a writer. To give you a taste, here are some of the highlights you’ll be able to find there:

The Authors Studio

If you are a lover of reading or a budding author, I think you’ll find this section fascinating. I’ve been interviewing many of the world’s biggest selling authors—including Lee Child, Paula Hawkins, Jeffery Deaver, RL Stine and Tess Gerritsen, as well as many up-and-coming authors—asking them to share their writing tips, secrets about how they work, and some of their guilty pleasures! These brief interviews, around five minutes long, give fascinating insight into both the similarities and the differences between authors and their writing styles. I’ll also be sharing with you books I’ve recently read and enjoyed and my own writing tips.

My Life As An Author

I’m giving behind-the-scenes looks at my life in our country home in Sussex with my wife Lara, the staff at Team James, and our growing menagerie of animals—including two dogs, a psycho cat, thirteen hens, five alpacas, and shortly to be joined by three emus! Ever wondered what really goes on in a day in the life of an author? I’ll take you through one, sped up to a few minutes … and you’ll see it is not all just about being locked away in a garret, slaving over the keyboard.

My Research with the Police

As my readers know, I’m a firm believer in the importance of research, and I go out regularly with the Police in the UK as well as in the US. I’ll be showing you aspects of the world of the police that the public rarely see, and among the highlights, you’ll be riding with me in cop cars, going to crime scenes, and having an incredible—and gruesome—rare tour of the Los Angeles County Mortuary with the Deputy Chief Coroner.

Science & Forensics

Not all my research is dark and serious. I'll also be showing you how to dissolve a human body in an acid bath and the effects of different explosives—including footage of me being spattered head-to-toe with the remains of a detonated cupcake. I’ll also be showing you how to sabre the top off a Champagne bottle, me putting my hand through a searing flame without it burning, and immersing my hand in liquid nitrogen without it freezing. And, you’ll enjoy seeing some incredible slow-motion footage, including a water-filled balloon bursting and my latest novel being blown to smithereens—a real page-turner!

Travel and Sport

You’ll be coming with me around the world on my book tours, research trips, and vacations, as well as seeing my passion for motor racing—and the dramatic in-car footage from the accident in 2013 when my 1965 BMW flipped and bounced on its roof at 95mph.

I think you’ll enjoy the ride. It’s totally free to subscribe, and we have loads of competitions to win books, goodie bags—and you could even get your name in a book!
