Anyone remember the movie Freddy Got Fingered with Tom Green? Apparently a North Carolina man forgot about this movie, too. That is, until cops went to arrest him for neglecting to return a 14-year-old VHS rental of the movie.
Huffington Post reports that James Meyers said he was driving his daughter to school when a police officer pulled him over for a busted taillight on his car. However, when the officer ran his license through the system, it came back with an arrest warrant for the failure to return rental property way back in 2002. Unfortunately for Meyers, a failure to return rental property is a misdemeanor in his home state of North Carolina and carries a $200 fine.
Luckily, the officer was cool and let Meyers take his daughter to school and allowed him to go to work before returning to the police department to deal with this strange situation. Meyers ended up arrested and handcuffed when he returned to face the music at the police station. He was later released and given an April 27 court date. Reports claim Tom Green even called Meyers after hearing about the ordeal.
Keeping a copy of Freddy Got Fingered out of circulation for 14 years? Most people would think that deserves an award, not a fine.
