Shuffling Toward a New World: The Walking Dead Spin-Off

In 2015, the zombie apocalypse will expand its group of survivors with a spin-off that will be executive produced by the The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman. AMC announced yesterday that Kirkman will be executive producing the new show along with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert, and the spin-off will be based in The Walking Dead universe, but will focus on a different group of survivors. Nothing else is known about the series yet as it's still in early development.

Kirkman had this to say about the new show:

“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

What would you hope to see in the new series? What other aspects of the zombie apocalypse do you want to see?

I would love to see the Chase character from cold storage return in new stories. I liked the actor (in Third Watch and Batman) and his portrayal in the webisodes.

I’d like to see a spinoff centering on Daryl’s search for Carol with seperate stories of his encounters with other survivors wrapping up in one to two episodes. I’d like to see them miss each other by minutes and I’d love to hear Daryl talk about how much he loves her but can’t find her when sometimes he just wants to give up from frusteation….but he doesn’t.

I’d also like to see Carol’s encounters as she tries to survive alone and totally unaware Daryl is searching for her and we could see them together in both their thoughts and dreams.

hey…this black walker in the picture is Lee from walking dead game season one ,isn’t he?
