Pony-Napped and Held By the Mafia for Ransom?

Charly, trainer Bartolo Messina, and his herd / Game Fair Italy
Seen here, Charly is a miniature pony, just around 2 feet tall, and he's been stolen from his stall at a horse show in Italy.

… thieves cut through the netting surrounding the pony’s enclosure on Thursday night before making off with the steed through a nearby tobacco field. The alarm was later raised by the pony's owner.

”The problem is that this pony is so easy to transport because he is so small – like a dog,” a spokesperson from the show told The Local.

Owner and trainer Bartolo Messina discovered the theft and fears—as is not unpredented—that elements of organized crime abducted him for the purpose of ransom. We hope Charly's returned to his herd, safe and adorable, because even for the Mafia, pony-napping is low.
