Which New Shows Will You Catch in 2013?

Ah, January. Shows we’ve been missing (Justified!) return and new shows strut their stuff.

For 2013, Cinemax is bringing us Banshee:

Antony Starr stars as an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa. Also starring Ivana Milicevic, Ulrich Thomsen, Frankie Faison, Hoon Lee, Rus Blackwell and Matt Servitto.

And then there’s The Following on Fox, which we got a chance to preview and discuss at ComicCon.

FX brings us the Cold War drama The Americans:

NBC joins the party, too, with Deception, about a cop who goes undercover to solve her childhood friend’s murder.

Also from NBC, Do No Harm, a Jekyll-and-Hyde story about a surgeon (Steven Pasquale) with a secondary personality who is sort of like an evil twin.

ABC is jumping into the mix with a conspiracy theory drama starring Anthony Edwards called Zero Hour. Edwards plays the publisher of a magazine for skeptics. When his wife is abducted, he, his buddies, and the FBI attempt to crack various conspiracies in order to get his wife back.

So, what do you think? Will you watch any of these new shows, or any we’ve missed? What old favorites are you desperately waiting for to return?

Really looking forward to The Following, as I love James Purefoy, but I’ll watch at least the first episode of the other shows. (PS can’t wait for Justified’s return, either! LOL)

edit: corrected the spelling of James’ name. The spelling with an “i” is very common around where I live, and didn’t think before I typed:)

I feel the same way about Purefoy, but I have to admit, having seen the pilot I have reservations about The Following. I wrote about it here on CE.

I’ll be watching the pilot at least for The Following and Cult, but I’m looking forward more to The Americans and Deception, the pilot of which I really enjoyed. It had some actual humor and passion instead of the chilly iciness of Revenge.

Thanks for sharing! I think all of these shows seem rather promising, so I will at least check out a couple episodes of each. I’m probably most looking forward to Deception and The Following though, after one of the guys I work with at DISH showed me the trailer for them a few days ago. A couple old favorites I’m looking forward to coming back as well are Once Upon a Time and Revenge. I can’t wait to see how all of them turn out, and luckily for me (with the exception of Banshee and The Americans) I won’t have to remember to set any individual recording timers for the primetime shows. I just upgraded to a DISH Hopper DVR and have PrimeTime Anytime enabled, so all of the major network’s primetime shows record for me automatically each night. I can’t wait to see how everything plays out!

I will try each of them, I am sure. But really looking forward to The Following (love the idea of Kevin Bacon in such an intense series), Zero Hour (have been missing Anthony Edwards) and Deception looks interesting! Let the watching begin…
