After the July 2012 movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Warner Bros. pulled all Gangster Squad trailers (they featured a movie theater shootout between the Squad and Mickey Cohen’s henchmen), decided to postpone the Gangster Squad release date, and refilmed part of the movie to eliminate the movie theater shootout.
This is the trailer for the re-edited film, which is set for release on January 11, 2013. The trailer looks just as intense without the scene—which wasn’t actually part of any “on the record” accounts (as “on the record” as the Gangster Squad could be, at least) nor was it mentioned in the nonfiction book by Paul Lieberman on which the film was based.
