Introducing Wyoming’s Sheriff Walt Longmire in this riveting novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Hell Is Empty and As the Crow Flies, the first in the Walt Longmire Mystery Series, the basis for Longmire, the hit A&E original drama series

Fans of Ace Atkins, Nevada Barr and Robert B. Parker will love this outstanding first novel, in which New York Times bestselling author Craig Johnson introduces Sheriff Walt Longmire of Wyoming’s Absaroka County. Johnson draws on his deep attachment to the American West to produce literary mysteries of stunning authenticity, and full of memorable characters.

With lifelong friend Henry Standing Bear, Deputy Victoria Moretti, and a cast of characters both tragic and humorous enough to fill in the vast emptiness of the high plains, Walt Longmire attempts to see justice done…and you can see just how he does it if you read all eight books in the series!

Vote Longmire for Sheriff! Two lucky winners will grab the entire set plus a signed Longmire poster. Ten runners up will get a poster signed by Craig Johnson endorsing Walt Longmire.

    What a great contest.

  3. Tatiana deCarillion

I just finished the first book and, as much as I like the TV series, it isn’t holding a candle to the books, if I can base my opinion on just one book. The last episode of the TV show is what happens in the first book of the series.

But, the book is filled with so much background material, more history about Henry and Walt, and some of the relationships are different–and better, IMO–that I can’t wait to read the rest of the books!! I even learned where the term, ‘sharpshooter,’ comes from, along with some other neat trivia.

  4. Karen Cherubino

I am not really a contest person but this is the dream contest of all time! It is especially meaningful because it is so difficult to want to share copies of my favorite series and yet want to hold on to my own copies also!! Thank you to Craig Johnson for this phenomenal literature and congrats for working so well with the production cast, writers, and crew to bring so much of the spirit of the books to the screen and for all of the interviews that help his reading fans enjoy the process so deeply!!

It’s been many years since I read a western type book, but I love watching them on TV. The Longmire series was wonderful and I hope will have a successful run. I would be so elated to add these books to my book shelf as a new author to read.
