Weekend at Bernie’s: NASCAR Edition

Where to next on our adventure? How about NASCAR?
Weekend at Bernie’s is one of those somewhat timeless movies (if you can ignore the 80s clothes). One woman in Jackson, Michigan, may have taken the theme a little too far, though, when she kept her partner’s body in their home for 18 months after his death.

Relatives of the dead man checked in on him after not hearing from him for several months. Police found the man in his favorite chair in front of the TV. His partner, Linda, said she had kept him there because they had always loved to watch NASCAR together and so after he died she just kept him in his favorite spot. She would clean and dress him on a regular basis and she said he did not smell despite 18 months worth of decomp.

“It’s not that I’m heartless. It’s just that after so many bad things happen to you, I don’t know.

“I didn’t want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me.”

We think it might have also had something to do with the Social Security checks Linda kept cashing even after his death.

You cannot afford cable tv to watch NASCAR on if the checks stop!!! I love my hubby, but I will not watch him rot away in his favorite chair or clean him up after he is dead…gross.
