Lawsuit Watch: Not Enough Driving in Drive

Back in May, we talked about how James Sallis’ fabulous book Drive was being made into a movie to star Ryan Gosling.  And then, of course, we got busy and forgot to ask you whether you’d seen it and what you thought.

Well, one woman’s opinion is making news.  Apparently, Sarah Deming of Michigan is suing FilmDistrict—Drive’s distribution company—for false advertising because she doesn’t think the movie had enough driving in it.

What does Ms. Deming want? For starters, her money back. But that’s not all. According to the article on ClickOnDetroit, “The complaint doesn’t specify how much she is seeking, just that she allegedly suffered ‘damages including but not limited to the purchase price of the ticket.’”

The moral of this story? Never judge a movie by its title.
