Hatchet Job: Daniel Radcliffe meets The Woman in Black

Daniel Radcliffe as young lawyer Arthur Kipps in Woman in Black/ CBS Films
Author Susan Hill, perhaps known to you for her wonderful crime series about Detective Chief Inspector Simon Serrailler, has also written atmospheric, supernatural thrillers.  At least, that’s what I’m calling this film about a young lawyer sent to a remote village to sort out the legal affairs of a recently deceased client.  If I called it merely a ghost story, I might feel weird about sharing this deliciously creepy trailer for the upcoming film of Woman in Black, starring a post-wiz Daniel Radcliffe, who’s returning to his Dickensian-miniseries roots with the eerie setting and period.  It also stars Ciaran Hinds, who we’re also eagerly anticipating in the upcoming Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.  At least we’re sure T2S2 will screen here!

The trailer below looks superb if you like dust, overgrowth, scary toys, and that good-old-Gothic vibe, and I sure do!  CBS Films is releasing it in the UK in February, 2012, and we can hope they’ll toss a little something to the misty, decrepit estate-loving peeps over here.

Hat tip to SandwichJohnFilms for spreading the chills!

OK, that’s a un-Potterlike and very scary trailer right there. The monkey toy with the cymbals is used to maximum effect. I may wait until this hits DVD so I can watch it with the lights on.
