Via Deadline, crime fans get some vindication from AMC and sereis updates from A&E. After the painfully inconclusive and even infuriating season 1 finale of The Killing—which producers defended at that time with reflexive hand-waving at viewer complaints—AMC programming executive Joel Stillerman offers this overdue, but welcome, bit of duh:
“I think the major takeaway for us is that we certainly would have taken a different approach to managing the expectations (of the Season 1 finale),” he said. “It was never our intention to mislead…We didn’t manage the expectations the way they should have been managed.” And he made a promise: “Viewers will definitely find out who killed Rosie Larsen in Season 2.”
Hmmm. (Is there a crooked eyebrow emoticon?) The other A cable network, A&E (previously misidentified in this article as also AMC-thanks, Tara!) has a chance to earn some lurv if they will at last pick up Longmire as a series. Today they passed on Big Mike, which honestly, we hadn’t heard much about, other than it’s about a “plus-size detective” with San Diego PD. Maybe that means more room in the schedule and budget for other shows? Word is they’re “leaning heavily” toward the drama based upon Craig Johnson’s novels. So fall, already! Because soon, it’ll be fall already!
Longmire is in contention at A&E not AMC. So glad to hear they’re leaning towards pickup.
Such dumb alphabetizing mistake to make, Tara! Fixed!
