TNT Mystery Movie Night: 2 Down, Wanna Hide?

Carla Gugino as Detective D.D. Warren from Lisa Gardner’s Hide: Is that anticipation or anxiety on her face?
This week, TNT premiered Scott Turow’s Innocent and Sandra Brown’s Ricochet. Did you watch either or both, and what do you think so far?

(We ask, because sometimes things that seem so promising—cough- Whitechapel-cough-can take a inexplicable turn for the meh.)

So, are you excited for the offerings next week of Hide by Lisa Gardner where cops hunt a serial killer and another legal thriller, Silent Witness, by Richard North Patterson?

And if you’re a specific fan of one author in particular or none of them, could TNT get you to like the series concept enough to watch all the movies, even if you didn’t care about the novel it was based upon?

I thought the Turow very bland. I won’t watch the Brown or Gardner. Basically second rate romance writers turning out mystery/crime fiction.

I must admit I love the concept of the made for TV movie. So, yeah, I’ll watch them even if I am not a fan of the author. There’s so little that’s good on TV these days that I am willing to give almost anything a two-hour shot. I guess maybe I have commitment issues! LOL!

@Anonymousie Ha! I know what you mean. I have a few longer series I’m glued to, some extra long-in-the-tooth that I don’t watch anymore, and we’ve had a few new ones hit the skids. I like a nice low committment shot of entertainment!

I thought Innocent was very thin, but I DVR’d Ricochet anyway and will watch all the made for tv movies because I want to encourage the industry to keep making them. they are bound to make a few that I will love.

I missed them because I work evenings and don’t have a DVR. I’m hoping to catch them on demand or on the website if possible. I hope they’ll keep making them. Depends more on the actors in the movie for me than who wrote the original story. I caught a TV movie based on a Gardner novel because of an actor in it and it made me want to read the book which I enjoyed.

Well, I’ve watched both if watching less than half and then turning them off constitues as “watched.” I like both authors but didn’t care for the Scott Turow, and Sandra Brown translates better in a book than movie. I was so frustrated with the two main characters of Ricochet I turned it off. The cop pretended he hated the woman character when all he really wanted to do was get her into bed. Not TVs finest hour(s). If this is likely what’s coming up next, I’ll give it a shot and perhaps turn this one off, too.
