Interview with a Serial Killer: How Netflix’s Mindhunter Gets it Totally Right

One of the most chilling and captivating aspects of David Fincher's Netflix series Mindhunter is its interviews with the serial killers. The rich dialogue creates a window into the minds of some of the vilest and most hateful monsters this world has ever seen. Its honest portrayal of the actual interviews it draws from—particularly in the case of Ed Kemper— is absolutely nailing the eerie, suspenseful nature of speaking with psychopaths whose often charming and personable facade briefly mask the horrors inside until you catch that spark of violence and rage as their true nature breaks through.

To show just how well the show is portraying the interviews, YouTube user Thomas Flight has cut a video that juxtaposes the real Ed Kemper with Cameron Britton's dramatized version. The similarities are striking.
