First-Look Trailer for FOX’s Houdini & Doyle

Matinee Monday kicks off this week, bringing you the latest in upcoming on-screen crime/mystery/thriller entertainment, as well as digging through digital libraries to find some greats that may have flown under the radar. This week, FOX has released a first-look trailer to the upcoming show, Houdini & Doyle.

This new mystery adventure series features the real-life friendship of legendary magician, Harry Houdini, and famed author and creator of “Sherlock Holmes,” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, as they work together to investigate unsolved and possibly paranormal cases.

Perfecting the art of slight-of-hand and misdirection, Houdini plays the skeptic, while imaginative author and inventor of mystery, Doyle tends to believe in the unseen. This sounds like the dynamic that a previously rebooted FOX show utilized, albeit without the romantic tension between leads (that’s not to say that Houdini & Doyle wouldn’t make as cute a couple as Mulder & Scully). The two join forces with Adelaide Stratton, the first female Constable of the London Metropolitan Police Force, to tackle cases that involve “things that go bump in the night,” but toe that line of true paranormal or elaborate ruse.

From creator and executive producer of House, David Shore, Houdini & Doyle is set to premiere May 2, 2016. Check out the first-look trailer below:
