With 4 novels and 56 short stories, Sherlock Holmes became synonymous with clever and quick-witted, the quintessential archetype for the detective. There is a wonderful follow-up to the Hound, entitled The Official Papaers Into the Matter Known as "The Hound of the Baskervilles, written by a former CID detective with over 22 years experience. Both Lestrade and Holmes get a proper hiding for procedure violations
