New Law & Order: True Crime Anthology Series Coming

Law & Order takes on the Menendez Brothers

DUN DUN! Law & Order: True Crime is coming to a horizontal screen near you. Hot off the heels of the successful American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson comes news that the folks at NBC are also jumping on the bandwagon of true crime anthologies.

NBC announced it has recently ordered an eight-episode-long season of Law & Order: True Crime. The first season will take on the infamous, brutal case of the Menendez Brothers and don the title: Law & Order: True Crime – The Menendez Brothers Murders.

Dick Wolf, the bigwig behind the Law & Order franchise will be at the helm of the new series. According to Deadline, NBC had this to say about the venture:

We’ve been talking with Dick about how to create an event series coming out of the ‘Law & Order’ ripped-from-the-headlines brand. This case captured the public’s attention like nothing before it as it examined taboo issues such as patricide and matricide in gruesome detail, all against a backdrop of privilege and wealth,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “We will recreate the cultural and societal surroundings of both the murders and trials when people were not only obsessed with the case but examining how and why these brothers committed these heinous crimes.

Right now, there is no premiere date set. Stay tuned!
