Aaron Paul Joins Cast of Stephen King’s Dark Tower Adaptation

It seems that more good news is ahead for fans of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Last week, King himself confirmed that Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey would be cast in leading roles as Roland and the Man in Black, respectively (breaking the entire internet in the process). Yesterday, Aaron Paul took to Twitter and confirmed his own involvement in King's fantastical magnum opus.

Paul—perhaps best known to Criminal Element readers as Walter White's partner-in-crime, Jesse Pinkman, in AMC's Breaking Bad (we here at CE are a forgiving sort and chose to overlook his rather questionable career decisions involving Need for Speed and Exodus: Gods and Kings)—seems especially suited for one particular character in the Dark Tower.

Longtime readers of the series will know that it's hard to picture Paul being targeted for any role other than that of Eddie Dean, a core member of Roland's ka-tet who enters King's tale as a recovering addict who's dragged, kicking and screaming, onto the road to redemption. We already know that Paul can pull off that act—after all, that was a big part of his character arc in Breaking Bad. It'll be interesting to see how he adapts to the role, which will call for an 80s (and eventually, a fantasy-type) twist.

As it stands, three major cast members are potentially in place—Elba as Roland, McConaughey as the Man in Black, and Paul as Eddie. Two major roles remain—those of Jake and Susannah. Angela Bassett? Lupita Nyong'o? Jaeden Lieberher? There's a lot of talent to choose from.

Until next time, fellow Tower junkies, remember the faces of your fathers.

And answer us this: who would YOU like to see cast to play Susannah and Jake?
