The result of his hiatus is Rosewater, a film that marks his first time as director and is adapted from Maziar Bahari's memior Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival. Bahari was famously captured, interrogated, and tortured in an Iranian prison on the charges of being an American spy. Oddly enough, it was Bahari's satirical bit onThe Daily Show that led to his arrest. You can watch the trailer for Rosewater below. It hits theaters November 7th.
