It was issued by the Pinkerton National Detective Agency some time around the turn of the last century and featured on posted notices seeking information on the whereabouts of one “George Parker” (aka Robert Leroy Parker, aka Butch Cassidy).

Criminal Occupation: Bank robber and highwayman, cattle and horse thief.

This original photo goes up for auction at Bonhams New York on April 7, 2014, included as part of the auction of a larger collection of papers, inlcuding letters from Charles Darwin and John Steinbeck, so in death, Butch is keeping more esteemed company. Estimated price for the photo is between $20,000 and $30,000—about what he stole from the San Miguel Valley Bank in Telluride, Colorado, in 1889.
