The Biblio-Mat: Automation Adds Mystery to Book Buying. Really!

Via NPR: Stephen Fowler is a used book seller and owner of The Monkey’s Paw in Toronto, which specializes in the “old and unusual.” He and his wife came up with an alternative to the ubiquitous sidewalk shelf of discount books and added mystery and excitement in the process! After discussing lower-tech options with his inventive friend Craig Small, an animation guy who also made the video below, they fabricated the Biblio-Mat, a real-live machine!

(If you have trouble seeing it, just try it on the Vimeo site.) We think it’s splendid! Not only does it look and work wonderfully, but shoppers have the chance to be surprised by something unique and substantial, customized by Providence especially for them!
