Real-life Hannibal Lecter: Man Shot While Eating Face of Another

Hannibal Lecter is one of those characters that has stuck with me since the moment he said “I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti,” but one homeless man in Florida took “Hannibal the Cannibal” a little further than most.

The man, now identified as Rudy Eugene, was shot and killed on Sunday after eating the face of a fellow homeless man in Miami. Even after being shot once, Eugene, 31, continued to eat the other man’s face. The unidentified victim somehow survived and was being treated in a Miami hospital.

Just a few days later another man stabbed himself in front of police and started throwing bits of his own skin and intestine (yes, you read that correctly) at his subduers. They then evacuated the room and called SWAT, ’cause no one gets paid enough to deal with someone throwing intestines at them.

With these two incidents circling my head, I’m prepared to go out and buy a shotgun, maybe a crossbow or grenade, and hole up someplace to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse (“they” say the cannibalism was because of a strand of LSD called Bath Salts that caused Rudy to go nutso but I’m not gonna hold my breath). For those of you who are more sympathetic to the zombies’ plight than I am, there’s a zombies’ rights campaign. Unless these zombies are like Fido or Lia Habel’s good zombies in Dearly, Departed, then I imagine the zombie rights folks are going to get eaten first.
