A Falsely Monstrous Crime

He can use it to decorate his cell.
Nice poster, right? It’d be pretty cool to have such a vintage item hanging in your house. But would you pay $5000 for it? If you did, would it matter to you if you found out it was not vintage at all? And how long would you expect the creator of the fraudulent poster to go to jail for for committing such a crime?

Well, the answer to that last question appears to be six-and-a-half years. Kerry Haggard of Georgia was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison for faking vintage horror movie posters and selling them on eBay. Since he’s apparently bilked buyers out of more than a million bucks at this, it’s hard to feel too sorry for him, but still. . . imagine saying to your cellmate when he asks what you’re in for, “I sold some fake horror movie posters.”

That’s not going to earn you much prison cred.
