Johnny Depp’s The Lone Ranger Is Back on the Trail

We had previously shared the sad news (Woe, Kemosabe) that Disney’s The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp as Tonto, had been nixed due to werewolves and a ballooning budget. But the folks over at Geek Tyrant are singing a different tune. According to their site, the movie is now back on track to be produced AND hasn’t lost any of the cast members. Depp is still Tonto and Armie Hammer will play the masked-man himself, The Lone Ranger.

To get the movie back under budget The Company that a Mouse built reworked the deals for Depp, the director (Gore Vebinski), and the film’s producer (Jerry Bruckheimer).  No word one way or another as to whether or not the werewolves are still in…

Werewolves or no, we’ll keep our ear to the ground on this one and hope that it brings about that return of the western film we keep hearing about.  Hi-Ho Silver(screen) Away!

Oh, good! It could be fun… And how did I miss that Armie Hammer was cast as The Lone Ranger? I just remember hearing about Depp, Depp, and more Depp.

I still don’t know who Armie Hammer is, but I think the guy has an unbelivabley awesome name.
