Via Deadline, Rosamund Pike, whom you may remember as Jane Bennet in Pride & Predjudice, has been selected to play Helen Rodin, a defense attorney encoutered by Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) as he investigates a sniper’s killings in the upcoming movie adaptation of Lee Child’s One Shot.
She is a talented actress and undeniably lovely, so if you’re like several of us around here who’ve had deep doubts about the casting of this film, does her selection as the female lead for the MP/knight errant warm you up to the idea at all?
No way Tom Cruise can play Reacher true to Lee Child’s characterization. A major part of Reacher’s effectiveness as a one-man anticrime fighter is his size: 250 lbs and well over 6-ft tall. Cruise doesn’t come close!!!
Please, PLEASE tell me it isn’t so……Tom Cruise cannot play Jack Reacher……what’s up with the head of casting for this movie????
Sorry, Tom. I’ve really enjoyed some of your work, but as Jack Reacher-NO WAY!
It’s hard to imagine Lee Child going along with this choice. Rosamund Pike may be great, but she won’t save the movie. It’s a lost cause as an authentic Jack Reacher characterization for me.
I have read every one of Lee Child’s books and enjoyed them immensely. Tom Selleck, even at this time in his life, could play this character with 1 hand tied behind his back. Tom Cruise would need 10 Tom Sellecks to pull this off. Lee………WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?
