Sneak Peeks from the set of Sherlock!

Sherlock holds gun, Dr. Watson holds Sherlock? Oh, handcuffs: Rehearsal stills from Cardiff

Can’t wait for the new episodes of BBC’s Sherlock? Neither can we! But there is good news, nail-biters!  Thanks to a friendly fan, we have some great pictures of the whole Sherlock crew in action, currently filming the second season in wind and rain in Cardiff Bay, Cardiff, Wales.

The adventures of Sherlock and the blustery day?
Here, we see the consulting detective himself (Benedict Cumberbatch) in a pickle with Sherlock’s trusty and ever-reliable friend Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman).  Photographer Alun Vega says that this London-y-looking part of Cardiff Bay has also been used to film Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Upstairs, Downstairs.  In his photos, you’ll also see the double-decker red bus imported for set-dressing.

The second season will feature cases based upon the stories, “A Scandal in Bohemia,” “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” and “The Final Problem.”  The new episodes will air in the UK beginning next month!

For more pictures of the set and rehearsals, be sure and check out alun.vega’s flickr page, for whose diligence and dry lens in the face of wind and rain all fans are extremely grateful.

I want the eps on TV heeeeeeere (imagine whiny voice). I’ve been Googling “BBC Sherlock season 2 U.S. premiere” for months but it doesn’t look like there’s a hard date scheduled yet. Bugger.

I remember being so bummed when I heard about this show, as I am devotee of Jeremy Brett’s version, but man… I WAS FLOORED by this show! LOVING it! I think the one thing that brought me to it was Martin Freeman (Bilbo!), who I really enjoy. Just a great series and happy to hear they’re finally doing more!

Yay! NEXT MONTH. I can’t wait.

Also, are they holding hands in that first picture? I’m going to ignore the obvious and say yes, yes they are holding hands.

  8. Christopher Morgan

To be honest with you Christine, I didn’t even see the gun the first time I saw the photos…

Seems there’s good news and bad news.

Bad news: Sherlock season 2 won’t be here until 2012. (Stupid hobbits.)

Good news: Channel Thirteen in NY is rerunning two episodes of Sherlock on Masterpiece Mystery tonight starting at 8 pm. This might mean that other PBS stations are doing the same. Check your local listings.
